We are in 2018 already, so seeing that for every mainteinance we need to download again 1gb+ seems very strange at least for the real changes we get in return.
Why you guys don't simply implement a new system that download only files which are modified? Basically the game detect which files don't match and it download them again to keep the game updated.
So, unless your game have many linked files with code involved, the total download should be way less than now.
There are many ways to do it, just find the one that suits better for the game code and let your players download less mb/gb..
